Top Tips for a Perfect Day at Water Country USA
Whether you’re here for pulse-racing thrills on our mega-slide or a relaxing afternoon floating along our lazy river, Water Country USA is the perfect destination for a fun day in the sun. Here are our top tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your day at Virginia’s largest water park.
Our most important tip is to stay safe!
Drink plenty of water throughout the day—water cups are available throughout the park and bottled water is sold at most dining locations. And be sure to apply sunscreen at 30 SPF or higher.
Book in advance
You can avoid stress on the day of your visit by booking your tickets, parking, and any upgrades beforehand.
Purchase an all-day locker at locations throughout the park
Don’t stress about keeping your belongings safe while you ride!
Eat smart
We offer plenty of dining options for you to choose from at Water Country USA, but if you'd rather bring your own meals we have picnic areas available outside the park next to the entrance/exit plaza. Swimsuit up!
We recommend appropriate swimwear and flip flops or water shoes for your day at the park. Remember that athletic shorts and loose clothing are not allowed on most of our attractions! For more information on swimwear, check out our FAQs.
Pack a towel
If you can, bring your own towel! But if you forget, you can purchase towels at our gift shops.
Find shade
There is complimentary seating in shady areas throughout the park. Alternatively, you can rent a cabana. Not only do they guarantee a place to relax, they come with a meal, locker, and two bottles of water per guest. You can also rent a lounger—including a meal and a locker. We recommend reserving ahead of time before they run out.

Use the billboard maps located throughout the park
Unfortunately, we do not provide paper maps at Water Country USA as they don’t cooperate very well with water! Our billboard maps also include height requirements so our guests can see which of our attractions are available to them. We recommend taking a look at our online map before you arrive to get an idea of which of our attractions you won't want to miss out on!
