Top 5 Must-See Attractions for Kids and Families at Christmas Town

December 8, 2018
These attractions are a must-see for the youngest child to the biggest kid at heart.

At Busch Gardens Williamsburg, the term KIDsiderate means kid-friendly family fun. If you’re coming to visit the park with young children this holiday season, bring a smile to their faces with our winter attractions and sights. The magic of Christmas Town really comes to life through their eyes. Here are our top 5 ways to create memories they will never forget.

O' Tannenbaum Christmas light show

O’Tannenbaum

What kid wouldn’t love a giant Christmas tree? And we don’t mean a slightly larger than average tree that may not fit in your living room – we’re talking about a tree that stands 50 feet tall with lights that dance to music. This light show begins at 5:30 pm and runs every 30 minutes, so head over to the North Pole (Oktoberfest) in the evening and see more than 1.7 million Christmas lights throughout the area.

Christmas Town Express lighted holiday train experience

All Aboard!

We often talk about how taking a ride on the train can be a great way to rest your little one’s feet during the warmer months, and Christmas Town is no different. In fact, this year will be even more special than previous years because the Busch Gardens Railway becomes the Christmas Town Express. Sing along to your favorite holiday songs and see two million Christmas lights across multiple themed holiday scenes on this 1.5-mile tour around the park.

Please note that Caribou Station in New France will be the only train station open during Christmas Town. The train will not make stops at Tweedside Station or Jingle Junction.

Play at Sesame Street Forest of Fun

Sesame Street Forest of Fun

Everyone’s favorite Sesame Street friends are back to play this winter season with more fun than ever before! Hop on one of your favorite kid rides as most of them are open during Christmas Town. Then, see our newest holiday show, Elmo’s Christmas Wish. Don’t forget to stop by 1-2-3 Smile with Me! to take a photo before you leave. Finally, as you leave this kids’ play area, warm up with a sweet treat or hot chocolate at Skillet Cookie Depot.

Meet Rudolph and friends at Rudolph's Winter Wonderland

Rudolph’s Winter Wonderland

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and his friends Clarice, Bumble and Yukon Cornelius return to Holiday Hills this year and can’t wait to see you! Stop by Rudolph’s Winter Wonderland for plenty of fun photo opportunities and themed games. Plus, watch the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in a multi-sensory, immersive movie experience that includes vibrant special effects, delicious scents and dazzling lights.

Meet Santa Claus at Santa's Workshop

Santa’s Workshop

Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to see Santa Claus. Venture to the North Pole (Oktoberfest), where you’ll find Santa’s Workshop nestled inside NewKastle. See the jolly elves and the toys they’ve made before making your way to see the big man in red. Take a moment to snap a picture and tell Santa what you want for Christmas before taking in another great show or seeing more of our light displays.

Tip: Reserve your spot at Santa’s Fireside Feast for a fun holiday dining experience.
