For Howl-O-Scream 2020, the creative production team has been consulting with medical experts and has modified this year’s event content with a focus on open-air scare zones and entertainment, as well as enhanced health and safety measures, while staying true to the core of this fan-favorite experience. Busch Gardens has worked diligently with state and local health experts, outside consultants and attraction industry leaders to enhance already strict health, safety and cleanliness standards. These protocols and guidelines will be modified based on evolving industry standards and methodologies, public health, and governmental directives, and advancing scientific knowledge on the transmissibility of COVID-19. We are excited to continue to provide our guests with fun, and memorable experiences, while addressing important health and safety needs during this time.

How will the event and scare zones operate safely?

Scare zones have been a fan-favorite element of our event for years, and the “open air” aspect of these areas helps us to provide a safe experience for our guests and ambassadors. This year, scare zones takeover the park on spacious walkways with physically-distant scares throughout. In addition to enhanced cleaning procedures taking place every hour and again every night, we will also have dedicated staff focused on ensuring that all guests are complying with proper face covering usage and physical distancing from other groups.

How will the scare actors be kept safe?

In addition to the enhanced health and safety measures we’ve already implemented for our daytime ambassadors, we will make additional adjustments for the Howl-O-Scream team as needed, including specific considerations for prep space and break space.

Will performers wear protective masks in addition to costume masks?

Scare actors will wear protective face coverings and remain physically distant from guests to ensure that guests and ambassadors are both safe.

Are reservations required?

Yes, reservations are required, and limited. We will accept walk-up reservations when available, but strongly encourage all of our guests to make them online in advance.

Are you limiting capacity to the event?

Yes, in addition to numerous other safety measures implemented, we are also limiting capacity each night to maintain proper physical distancing in the park.

Are face masks required?

Yes, protective face coverings are required at all times for guests and ambassadors. Full face coverings and costumes are not permitted.
